Action Challenge offers a fantastic range of snacks and food at each aid station at their events so you can refuel during your walk. If you are not fussy about what you eat, you’ll find something you like at each aid station. When I walked my Action Challenge Ultras, they had the following types of foods;
- Energy bars
- Pastries
- Cookies
- Trail mix
- Fresh fruit and vegetables
- Chocolate bars
- Sandwiches
- A hot meal at the halfway point and finish
However, it is still essential to pack additional snacks of your own. Nutritious snacks such as fruits and nuts are ideal; they provide essential vitamins and minerals to energise you. Packing your favourite energy bars, gels and snacks that you have eaten during your training walks is also helpful because you know your stomach can handle them better.
Study the route and the distance between aid stations, and remember to stock up with enough nutrition to see you through to the next rest stop. Cram enough fruit, bars and whatever into your backpack – don’t be shy; it’s expected.
