Petzl Tikka 300-Lumen Review

The Petzl 300-lumen lumen headlamp excellent great option for anyone in the market for a new headlamp. It’s got a few different settings so you can adjust the light to fit your needs, and it’s also rechargeable, which is lovely. We found that the light was bright and lasted for a long time on a single charge (using rechargeable batteries). We also appreciate that it’s lightweight and comfortable to wear, even for extended periods. Read on, and we’ll cover each key feature in more detail.

Easy To Use Headlamp

The Petzl 300-lumen lumen headlamp is very easy to use. Boasting 3 lighting modes: proximity, movement, and distance vision, so you can adjust the light to fit your needs. You’ll also get a red light mode, ideal for night vision. A single button controls each s; tap the button on the lamp and cycle through the settings. We appreciate how easy it is to use, especially since some headlamps can be tricky to figure out.

Petzl Tikka 300 Battery Life

This headlamp is powered by either 3 XAAA batteries or compatible with the Petzl core rechargeable battery. The Petzl core is a great option to save money in the long run since you won’t have to keep buying new batteries. Battery length will ultimately depend on the light setting you choose – with full beam draining the battery quicker. Another factor is the quality of batteries. When tested with cheaper disposable batteries, we got about 5 hours of burn time, which isn’t too bad, to be honest. However, as we pointed out, going down the rechargeable battery route would be wise.

Brightness/Lumen Power Settings

With 300 lumens of power, the Petzl Tikka is not one of the brighter headlamps on the market. However, 300-Lumen more than enough for most activities, but if you need an even brighter light, you might want to consider another option (see table at the end of the guide). However, for most night running, hiking, and camping, 300 lumens is more than enough. Each of the light settings gives the following amounts of lumens:

  • High Beam: 300 lumens
  • Low Beam: 40 lumens
  • Strobe: 300 lumens
  • Red Light: 2 lumens

Comfortable To Wear

The Petzl Tikka is compact and lightweight at only 100 grams, and you’ll barely know you’re wearing it after a while. That’s thanks to the comfortable elastic headband that’s adjustable. It also has an IP X4 waterproof rating, which can withstand some wet conditions.
