Fit & Comfort - Easy To Adjust

This vest comes in one size, and for me (5 foot 11″ and 12 stone), it fits great for a vest made for all shapes and sizes. It doesn’t rub on my shoulders or neck. The bulk of the vest uses breathable and lightweight mesh material. This material will keep your body cool and allow any wind to penetrate through the vest.

You can adjust the size using the two straps on both sides, towards the rear of the vest. You can stash any excess strapping in two handy pockets located near the strap buckles. The straps are very long, allowing for a wide range of sizing requirements. Having these stow pockets means the straps don’t flap about when running.

There is a very efficient strap system that holds the vest in place and helps make the vest comfortable to wear. Two elastic straps secure the vest in place at the front, and there are 4 points of attachment so that you can find the perfect fit for your body type. They make the job of getting the vest on and off very easy.

You have two 500ml soft flask pockets (flasks included) on the chest area of the Salomon Agile 2. These pockets also feature elastic loops that will hold the lids securely in place. There are two additional pockets over the top of the flask pockets that could carry small items like energy gels and nutrition bars. The 500ml Salomon soft flasks are high quality, easy to clean afterwards and durable.

For your mobile phone, you’ll be able to use a zipped pocket on the right-hand side of the vest underneath the flask pocket. This pocket is big enough to fit most mobile phones. I have a Samsung Galaxy S10, and it can fit in and zip shut with no effort. I don’t use it for my phone, though. When I wear the Agile 2 running vest, I use a pouch belt – like this one, and that is where I keep my phone. It gives with quick and easy access to it without me needing to break stride.

Back Storage Compartment

The Salomon Agile 2 is a small vest, and you won’t be able to carry too much in the back pocket – a lightweight rain jacket will fit in, and I think you could also pop in some extra food and a headtorch. You probably won’t be able to access the back compartment without taking the vest off first – or maybe I’m just not flexible enough. There are two attachment points for the rear light to aid your visibility if running at night.

Overall, Salomon’s Agile 2 offers the basics that you need, with nothing more on show for the sake of it. That’s not a bad thing; you’re not weighed down or constrained with needless pockets, whistles and added weight. Is this vest suitable for 50K plus runs? Maybe, if you are happy travelling light, I have done one 50K run using this vest, but I was never far from a shop to buy extra water to top up my flasks and buy a bit of food. If you like a few more running comforts, then go with something more substantial such as the Salomon Active Skin 8. However, for shorter runs, it has worked great for me.

Final Thoughts On The Salomon Agile 2 Set

There is nothing overly fancy or complex with the Salomon Agile 2 running vest. It’s lightweight, breathable and well made – all things you would expect from Salomon. In my experience, it stays in place, is comfortable and is an excellent product for runs that range from 20k or more, especially in the summer months when you need a little more water with you. It’s probably not suitable for ultra events where you have a long mandatory kit list.
